3 Recommendation motion graphics
1. Introducing Spline - Ordinary Folk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIfP9h-H23s
I think that this motion graphic composition is definitely by far the most colorful, and the visually pleasing as it introduces the video with a 2d look, but as the story continues, it changes the direction of the way the animation looks by adding in the look of 3-dimensional space. It corporates well with the story as it is talking about the application and it is introducing the fundamentals and the key features that it offers.

The whole video is about the company introducing the audience to its application, and with the motion graphics, it tells the story well that it is designated to introduce the tool for 3d web browsers.
2. Happiness - Steve Cutts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9dZQelULDk
This video has become a viral meme at one point, indicating that we are alll sort of living in a loop and an endless cycle. This motion graphic shows stories of a mice having to reach an objective, to become happy, but in the end not really being proud of what is the outcome. The graphical elements are very different from the first video as it has a bit more mature content than a rainbow, happy feel to it. The colors are dimmer, dirtier, and well, it only becomes slightly more colorful when the mouse takes a drug to make itself feel happy.
There is a point where 3d rendering was used to animate the buildings and it was also set in a fish eye view, which made it extra unique to its style.
3. No.7 - Mehdi Alibeygi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYtQIA8QENw
A tribute video to Christiano Ronaldo, and although this isn't very flashy, it is definitely in the list of special animation styles in my opinion. It is a very sketch-like animation, but the frame rate accommodates really well with the drawings. This is also very mind boggling as the characters disappear and reappear on the other side of the ball. The ball is the main focus in the entirety of the composition. The camera angles also change during the video, which really emphasizes on the creativity of the field of view.
Honorable Mention:

This doesn't really have a story or anything special, but the art style and the animation that is composed is absolutely one of my favorites. The video shows an Ethereum NFT collection, artwork done by Markus Magnusson, and although it doesn't really look like much, the way that the theme of "Invisible friends" is consistent through and through and the unique designs of all of them are just a pure enjoyment to see.
Exercise 1: Quantity Data
For this exercise, I had to collect items of the same category that varied between each other. For example, Lego pieces but are different in tiles, color, etc.
In my case, I didn't have any Lego pieces as I gave them away when I moved to KL so I needed to find something that was easily obtainable. I thought about doing with buttons or rice, but rice would've taken too long and it wouldn't really be easily readable and countable as it is too small. So as I kept thinking, I came up with doing it with cereal. The only cereal that I could think of was fruit loops at the time as it had 4 different colors that I could categorize them to.
But the thing was that fruit loops had too little categories between the colors and there were no distinguishable change of shapes among them. So I just got another idea to match them up with a different cereal called Trix.

So with some consideration of the plan I decided to go with a circular organization of cereals.

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H Infographic
For this one, we had to make a simple infographic poster that followed the system of L.A.T.C.H. The categories were meant to represent Location, Alphabet, Time, Category and Hierarchy. We needed to make sure that we utilized the system by using 4 of these categories into our design.
We were told that we could do a pokemon themed map, or final fantasy map OR, if we wanted to, we could do anything else.
I thought about it, and I wanted to do a League of Legends map that shows the monster camps that spawn at different times, but while I was doing it, I realized that there were too many levels of detail that needed to be in the poster. So i scrapped the idea and went with the Pokemon instead.

I took the inspiration from the original poster that the lecturers gave me and just made it into my own style.
I started the progress in Illustrator, making sure I got the scenery correct by adding water, ice, rock, green(?) and things like that that categorize the Pokémon. BUT I couldn't add fire because it was too small to see if I were to add it into the poster.
I downloaded the images of the pokemons and added them into the poster one by one. It didnt take too much time but I needed to import them first into photoshop as they didnt have transparent background. But after that, I just continued on with illustrating the designs.

After adding in the evolutions I went on with making the poster a bit more pleasing to look at by adding in details.

Reflections
Experience
For the exercises, I thought that they were very quick and interesting. I found it actually pretty fun to do them as they weren't too hard and it could be done well if given enough time and thought.
Observations
I found it quite difficult to make the lower half of the pokeball in exercise 2. I made it a bit more detailed by making a carving of a circle where the button the pokeball could sit on but to make that be more 3d looking, it took some time.
Findings
I think everything else was on par with what I could do but I believe that it improved my illustrator skills by a lot.
