Tasks
Project Proposal
For the proposal, we made as a group, a PowerPoint presentation
on 3 main ideas and we were required to list in a rationale, the
objective and some sketches of the final outcome.
After, one of the lecturers had to review the slides and
make a comment of the proposal. Ms Anis reviewed ours and she told
us to try and look more towards the designs of packaging in
Japan.
We were then needed to present this slide in a
class where we share our thoughts on the final project.

Data Collection
Whilst being in Tokyo, Japan, we needed to gather data on instant food packaging. Of course, there were instant food packaging designs pretty much in every convenient stores like Lawson, 7-Eleven and Family Mart. We took some pictures here and there of cup noodles and such in those stores. However, we made an arrangement within our group to go to Yokoyama for the cup ramen museum set up by Nissin.
The museum featured various amount of cup ramen packaging in the
past and we gathered tons of information and data there. We saw
the process of how the business started and the history of the
infamous ramen it is today.

Final Poster Design
After coming back from Japan, we started with our own designs and we incorporated the idea of marketing different foods from all over the world to Japanese consumers. With that, we designed packaging that was more or less like the packaging we saw in Japan and utilized the idea to our own designs.
I went with Teokkpokki as it is one of the most popular dishes in
Korea and it just felt right as mochi or rice cake is already such
a big dish in Japan.

Reflections
Experience
I enjoyed this class very much. Both Ms Anis and Mr Asrizal were very kind and fun to be around during class. I also made a lot of new friends because it combined a lot of the other classes into one. The final project was very interesting to design as we needed to make our own design but making them Japanese was very fun and it was a new experience.
Observations
I realized that we were quite rushing the project right when we were about to reach the deadline.. but I am glad that we made it and finish the project and all the other things like the poster and such when we needed to present it.
Findings
I really found it fun to play around with the colors and typefaces of other languages like Japanese as it wasn't something that I was used to. It was fun looking at how Japanese fonts differ from times new roman, Helvetica and other overused fonts.
