Tasks

Exercise 1 -
Primitive Modeling

For exercise 1, we needed to make an object by using different shapes but also not distorting them. The trick here was to make something that was visible to be that object without making too many changes.

I started by trying to follow Mr Kamal's work in class that he was trying to make us make a robot with different objects and piling them up into a form of a robot.

After I just decided to start a new one from scratch and tried something new. I started piling and adding objects to the ball i had, and I ended up making snorlax from Pokemon. It wasn't really my intension and i was trying to go for Pikachu but it ended looking more fat then I just decided to go with it.

Final Outcome

The color was quite difficult to shade as it wasn't done in material properties but I just colored it in sculpture mode. But overall, I think it came out pretty okay.. but I definitely could've done better with the segments of the body.

Exercise 2 - Cylindrical Modeling

The goal for exercise 2 was to make a composition of cylindrical shapes that would appear together in a sense. So, things like plates, bottles, vases, glasses, etc.

Mr Kamal showed us how to make a water bottle in class, and with that exercise, it was really simple to make the other objects as the principles used to make the bottle was used for every other objects.

I made multiple different objects like a bowl, a wine bottle, plates and a vase..? to make the composition a little bit more diverse. The thing i learnt most here was on the material properties and making different categories of them and applying them to different objects as you please.

After Everything, the render was looking quite plain, so I decided to download a 4k background to make the glass property reflect the background. The thing here was that I didn't know why it was kind of looking janky in the reflection but that was because the render engine was on eevee and not on Cycles. But once I changed it, it was looking a lot better.

Exercise 3 -
Box Modeling

This exercise required us to make something that resembled the shape of a box, or a cube. So we could make a a=furniture, a car, a device and etc.

From my imagination, I thought of a car, and the only thing that came to mind was the tesla car. It looked polymetric and didn't seem that hard to do, and luckily, there was a tutorial on how to make the car. Of course I didn't copy everything, but I definitely utilized it to make sure what I was doing was correct.

I started off by making the body, and the loop cuts were getting quite difficult to follow through as there were too many different sides and it didnt appear to even make a loop cut at all. But luckily I made it to work and the body was finished. I tried to replicate the original as much as possible but because the car is still not out fully there were not too many references I could take from.

The wheels were definitely too hard for me to replicate as the original tires had a weird pattern that went around the wheel, so I just made my own by beveling the sections and extruding them out. It kind of looked like a chocolate bar in a circle but it did the trick.

Then it was applying the material properties. I wanted to make the car look, well, metallic, so I made it metallic with the properties and made the color grey to make it look like the original.

After, I made the background and although I wanted to make the background be concrete and make it look like a car photoshoot, I didn't know how to so I jsut made it very simple and got somewhat of an okay render.

Final Outcomes

Exercise 4 - Karambit Modeling

As the final exercise, we were needed to make a karambit and we got a reference photo from Mr Kamal to follow.

The body wasn't too hard but when I tried to subdivide, it was making a weird line on the blade part and so I just decided to make it without subdivide.

With the blade, I wanted to make it be like it was stabbed onto a wood, so I made a synthetic wood without texture map and I put the blade vertically on it. BUT, Mr Kamal didn't really like it so I just removed the background and just placed the knife on a normal surface.

Experience

The things that I tried for the exercises were a lot of fun as I did want to try out blender for a quite a while now and learning new things from different tutorials on youtube and from the classes gave me a lot of experience. The tesla car was definitely one of my favorites to make as it actually looks like the real thing. Of course, there are imperfections if its looked closely, but figuring it was one of the very first projects I've done i am quite proud of the outcome.

Observations

I definitely found myself focusing more on the module than the others, as it felt like I needed to catch up and learn as much as I can in blender. It did quite delay a lot of the other works in the other modules and that is something that I should've kept account.

Findings

The outcomes in blender is definitely the most proudest and fulfilling moment and I think that was why I was focusing more on the topic above everything else. The feeling when something works really gives pleasure to that hard work that was put in.
