INSTRUCTIONS
Task 3B
Research
Starting with the exercise, this task was for creating a sticker that had
a meaning with the typeface and the visual style of the theme that the
sticker had.

Figure 1.1: Halloween sticker references (07.06.2022)
Going with the halloween thematic was first a good idea, but once I drew
out the sketches for them, it felt like it was not original at all, as
there is a ton of designs for the special day, so I went on with more of a
usual day that could be used every week, 'Sunny Sunday'.

Figure 2.1: Halloween sketches (07.06.2022)
The Halloween sketches were to cliché and were over done with visual
illustration so I decided to go with the more simplistic design of sunny
Sunday.
Progress
Starting with the sketch, I thought it was looking pretty decent, but I
was afraid that Mr. Vinod would tell me to redesign the sketch as it had
too much of a visual illustration with the sun, and that it didn't really
give off a celebration effect of the text. So what I did was, I made
amendments to the sun that was popping out, and added in the words 'Happy'
in the start to give it that extra celebration feelings.

|
Figure 3.3: Progression #1 (14.06.2022)
The figures above were the progression of the sticker in the making. I
first put the colors in, to see what went well with it, but that time I
didn't know we were only allowed to use the colors white, red, black. It
was later that Mr. Vinod told me to subtract the unnecessary colors from
the sticker.
With the concept drawing, I pasted/imported it to illustrator, then traced
out everything. I used the same letters that were digitalized already to
give it a unified feeling, and just adjusted the size and rotated them to
how it would look the best.

Figure 3.4: Progression #2 (15.06.2022)
After, I edited the colors and the style a little bit more and changed the
position of the sun following the comments that Mr. Vinod gave. He told me
to change the position of the 'Happy' as it was giving too much weight to
the left side of the text. He said that he liked how I emphasized the
words 'Sunny' and 'Sunday', So I left it how it is.
I tried out making the words that are in red have a balloon effect by
adding little hints of white to give that reflection and I quite liked it
so I decided to put it to the word 'Happy' as well.

FEEDBACK
Mr. Vinod has stated that from the concept design, I could try to balance
things out since there were too much visual weight on the left side, where
all the words were aligned. He said that he liked the emphasis of the
letters as they are very visible to the eye and give attraction.
The colors of the concept was wrong as they had colors that were not in
the limited color palette. So the lecturer addressed the problem and I
fixed it to a design that fitted with the colors of red, white, and black.
REFLECTIONS
Experience
Having to create a typeface was hard, but since this task was offering
more of a freer choice for choosing a typeface and making them, it was a
lot more quicker to finish the task than the previous one.
Observations
During the short weeks of completing the task, I found that creating a
sticker is quite satisfying in a way and to see my sticker on the
application is also quite surprising. The process and everything was very
smooth and this was definitely one of my favorite tasks in the module.
Findings
For this task, it became a lot easier when comparing from the first task
for this module. With the basic fundamentals down for illustrator, it
was a whole lot faster than before.

This book has helped me during the past few weeks throughout the tasks and
it broadened my mind significantly.
Everything that Mr. Vinod has mentioned in his class are without a doubt
in the book and it is explained either clearly or skimmed through but it
is definitely something to have a look on.
