Assignment 4 - Research Implementation
15/Nov/2022 - 29/Nov/2022 (Week 12 - Week 14)
Week 2:
I needed to look more in depth into other articles that relates to the topic that is chosen for the rationale.
Week 3:
Dr Hayati told me that it might be better to rethink the topic to choose since it was too mass-comm related.
Week 5:
Dr Hayati stated that if I get into the topic of violence in animation and how it will affect children’s behavior it will really be focusing on the effects on children and not animation entirely.
Week 6:
Dr Hayati told me that it should be within 10 years and that it should be relevant to the topic I have chosen. Google Scholar is one of the things she told me to go through.
Week 7:
The slides were told to not be edited but to be redone so that Dr Hayati c can look through different variations.
Week 9:
We were told that we should have 2 instruments to support each other and that 1 wouldn’t really be sufficient enough to use for our data collection method in assignment 3 and 4.
Week 10:
Stated that 15 participants of a qualitative research should take longer time and that it might need to be shorter. Dr Hayati said that if I were to be doing qualifying questions, then I should be cautious and be using more questions relating to the topic of choice.
Week 11:
Should make viewing the videos in the survey easy to identify and watch.
Week 12:
I should not start with questions that isn’t relevant and that doesn’t relate with the focus group. The questions that should be more important needs to be the qualifying questions that makes the focus group the group that can answer the questions.
Week 13:
The questions and the format of the survey should be more relevant and if the participants are not in the focus group, they should be able to leave.
Week 14:
I could’ve gotten more data from the survey and could’ve had more different age groups to participate.
Some of the questions in the survey could’ve been improved and reiterated.
Reflections
Experience
Throughout the whole semester, I think this module was something to be really genuine and attentive about. I have never really gotten too deep into researching, but now that I have some experience into well, researching, I think this was a good experience overall. Although it was a lot more difficult than I expected, I think I understood it better and took it with more cautiousness when doing the assignments. The fact that I was not able to pin-point what I wanted to research on in the beginning was quite annoying and stressful as I was falling behind in different type of works.
Observations
Since Dr. Hayati is such an amazing person, both as a teacher and an advisor, I was having a wonderful time talking to her and listening to her feedback. However, since she was giving each individual's feedbacks in tutorial sessions I realized that I tend to doze off into doing something else and that was pretty distracting. I was also in class most of the semester with some of the other friends in the class, and there were a lot of people who needs to use the classrooms so it was quite hard to focus on individual feedbacks that we got.
Findings
The feedbacks and the time that Dr Hayati has given me for the freedom of what I wanted to do, has really helped me out in this module. Of course, I could've done a lot better, but I know that I am a lazy person. But since the lecturers have given me more than enough time, I was really thankful for all of them to understand my situation and also, I was moving out of my house during the final weeks, I did ask for a bit of an extension and luckily I had enough time to finish off what I hadn't finished.
